An order can be placed on the market at two ends. Either at the stockbroker’s desk or at investors ends. The electronic trading system available to investors is known as I-NET and is available on the web page of the Stock Exchange of Mauritius. I-NET is an Internet based routing mechanism that will allow investors to follow the market on a real time basis and at the same time place orders with their stockbrokers.

The purchase of Government of Mauritius Securities/Bank of Mauritius Bills on the Stock Exchange is restricted to Mauritian citizens and is limited to a maximum of 20 units per order (one unit = Rs100 000 nominal). Details of Government of Mauritius Securities/Bank of Mauritius Bills is posted on the website of the Bank of Mauritius as and when they are listed.

The clearing and settlement of transactions effected is handled by the Central Depository & Settlement Co Ltd. Dealings in Government of Mauritius Securities/Bank of Mauritius Bills are suspended five business days before the maturity date of the Bills.
